Bakat Interact 2017
This is it!!! Another Interact event that pumps up every student's spirit.
Bakat Interact is an annual Interact event where schools will be competing in 2 categories, which are the dance category and the band category. This year's Bakat Interact was held on the 11th of June, 2017, at Yayasan Sabah Auditorium.
Before the auditorium doors were opened, each school had a booth set up at the corridor, selling food and drinks and most importantly, everyone's favourite glow sticksssss. Sales during Bakat Interact this year decreased slightly due to the clash of the event's date with the Muslim's fasting month. Hence, schools cut down the amount of food and drinks to be sold. Regardless, all sales were still a success. Our school also once again, managed to maintain zero amount of unsold Bakat Interact tickets, as we do every year.
The dance category was up first and our school's dance team representative was known as the 'Inmates'. After a short break, the band category started right away and our school's band was named as 'Next Door Favour'. All dance and band performances that day were totally electrifying. The audiences were definitely hyped up. Their talents conquered the stage!
Before the announcement of the results, few words were given by the president and Youth Director of the Rotary Club Kota Kinabalu, Mr. Jeyan Marimuttu and Mr. Joshua Ho, respectively. The judges who consisted of professional musicians and dancers gave few comments too on stage. Hearts were thumping as the results were announced. Judges and rotarians have come to a decision that our school's band, The Next Door Favour, was to be crowned as champion for the band category! SM Stella Marris won 1st runner up while 2nd runner up went to SM All Saints. As for the dance category, champion was brought home by SM Lok Yuk, 1st runner up went to SM La Salle, and SM All Saints as 2nd runner up. The Inmates may not have won the competition, but they sure won some memories and friendship bonds. Congratulations to all the other winning schools!!!
After the event ended, everyone gathered back at the booth and helped out with the cleaning and packing up. Twas a loud and energetic event!
