RYLA Johor 2018

 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe. Each year, thousands of young people participate in this program. Young people ages 13–30 are sponsored by Rotary Clubs to attend the event run by the club's district committee. 

The programme aims to encourage leadership in youth, promote teamwork , build up discipline and respect and community service. 

RYLA Johor 2018 was held from 14th of December 2018 to the 17th December 2018 at Tanjung Sedilli Resort, Johor. 3 of our directors , Chelsea Elaine , Eva Joan and Delia Claudette are on of the 10 participants from Sabah to join. The remaining varied from other schools , SM Lok Yuk, SM Lasalle , SM All Saints, etc. 

I am proud to say that my first RYLA has become the pillar and foundation to understanding leadership and the fundamentals of it. 4 days were enough to make good life lessons that are meant to last. Tolerance, patience, discipline, acceptance and confidence are just one of the many traits I found in a successful leader. Not every moment in this program was a walk in the park, there were times where it tested my patience and tolerance with people with totally different traits and standards. But we knew that we had to work together in order to succeed. So I can definitely say that me and my teammates have served as learning pillars for both of us. The result? Great new friends, a bigger understanding in diversity and teamwork. I’ve set a quote for myself in my head on my way back home , ‘Accept failure and stay hopeful, accept success and stay humble’ . I’m grateful and very lucky to be able to join this program. Trust me when I say that joining RYLA once will never feel enough! 再见
