I.U. DAY 2K16: HOW DID WE DO?
Ahhh this was it, the highly anticipated Interact event of the year, International Understanding Day Bazaar.
International Understanding Day is an event where each school represents one country to compete in winning these 5 categories, Best Stall, Best Dance, Best Information, Best Food, Best Costume and finally, the overall champion title.
This year's I.U. Day was held on the 17th April 2016 at Imago Shopping Mall. A total of 8 schools participated; the usual main 5 schools including 3 guest participants which are SM Stella Maris, SM Shan Tao and SMK Perempuan Likas.
Our school's Interact Club decided to represent the colourful South Africa and its' wonders. Meanwhile, All Saints represented Philippines, SM Lok Yuk represented Kiribati, SM La Salle represented Grenada, Sabah College went for France, SM Stella Maris portrayed the United States of America, SM Shan Tao went for the famous Japan and last but not least, SMK Perempuan Likas portrayed Germany.
The event started off with the visiting of rotarians and judges to every booth of each school where we are judged for Best Stall, Best Information and Best Food. The interactors felt nervous as they were all lined up outside their own booths to welcome the rotarians and judges. Next, the models from each country went up on stage to model their looks and the dance performances went on right after that.
After the long awaited deliberation, the results finally came in. All the interactors had butterflies in their stomach as they were eager to hear the results. It was made to a decision whereby our school won 1st place for Best Stall and Best Information, 2nd runner up for Best Food, Best Dance and Best Costume. Yes, you read that right! Our school managed to get a placing in all 5 categories which also resulted us in being crowned as the OVERALL CHAMPION!!!
However, the round of marks also concluded that SM Lok Yuk carried the same amount of marks as we did in the competition. Therefore, the event ended with our school and SM Lok Yuk sharing the overall champion title. Kudos to SM Lok Yuk!! The other schools did a great job as well considering it was a pretty tough competition.

- Credits goes to our International Service Director, Aleya Haziqah for never missing a single prep day, planning everything ahead, and mostly, leading us to victory. Our President, Dana Dumpangol who is also the head of the information department, for always being the best advisor the club ever needed. Aileen Diasip, our head of stall decoration, who called the shots and eventually turned our stall into an outstanding one. Ethel, Yoshini and Nisreen for working together and pulling off a bombastic choreography. Atirah Majid, for helping me out with Food Department in various ways and presenting scrumptious dishes on the day itself. Our beautiful models, Ivygail, Hazel, Madeline and Alyssa. Not to mention our hardworking B.O.D.s and to all our smart, cooperative interactors. Last but not least, a heartfelt gratitude to Miss Siska and Mrs Wee for the never-ending support and guiding us throughout this roller-coaster journey.
Our hard work has lead us to an overwhelming victory ππππ
