KK Jazz Festival 2017

Festival on a Friday night?

If you're a fan of musical festivals, perhaps the annual KK Jazz Festival (KKJF) is worth a date reserved in your calendar! Now what's the event about? KKJF website's 'about' page states that,
"Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival (KKJF) is an annual fund raising jazz extravaganza jointly organized by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) and the Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah (SPArKS). Staged in the picturesque Nature Resort City of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, the jazz festival brings together a musical melting pot of talents from around the world".

This year's KKJF was held on the 21st of July, 2017, at Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu. Remember our school's band representative, Next Door Favour, who was the champion for the band category in Bakat Interact? Well, they had the privilege to be invited to perform at KKJF as the opening act. Their band members consisted of Dyan Dumpangol, Alisha Pain, Annabelle Mikal, Nur Khairunnisa Islam, Angelyca Lee, Vivy, Eylia Guntabid and Cassendra Isabelle. Sadly, Eylia couldn't perform with them that night.

"The prestigious event had a variety of performances by professional musicians from all over Malaysia and even from other countries. Being the only band of our age, it was a golden opportunity to be exposed to a more professional and high standard environment. We performed a medley comprising of songs, Closer (by The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey), Despacito (by Luis Fonsi), That's What You Get (by Paramore) and Shout Out To My Ex (by Little Mix). The audiences and atmosphere were lovely which made the performance and experience more enjoyable. With the support of other Interactors who were invited, our teachers and friends, it was an honour being able to represent our school on such a big stage. We would like to thank the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu for giving us this exposure and once in a lifetime experience of showcasing our talent to the public eye. " - a recap from Dyan :)
